The hides go into a Bottali — a large rotating barrel that keeps the organic tanning substances in contact with the article — and a complete cycle can take 30 to 35 days. What comes out has transparency and depth rather than a flat surface, with prominent vamp breaks and real variation of colour; on a light vegetable-tanned article, some areas will simply run darker. Under it, the Leo last gives the pattern exceptional support, with Goodyear-welt construction, a 360º split-reverse welt, full-grain kip leather lining, antique brass eyelets and speed hooks, cork filler over a steel shank and a full-grain leather heel counter. Insole, welt, midsole and outsole are all vegetable-tanned leather.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe all-leather bottom makes this the dressier boot here, and the tone is warm enough to sit under almost anything.
