Black Chromexcel Boot, Leather Outsole
Description
This is the plain toe pattern with the rubber taken off the bottom: a black Chromexcel boot finished on a leather outsole.
That sole is the difference. Above it, the upper is Chromexcel tanned by Horween in Chicago, whose hot-stuffed tannage leaves oils and waxes in the hide and gives the leather its pull-up effect and supple feel. Full-grain kip leather lines the boot. Vegetable-tanned leather forms the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler sits over a steel shank, and full-grain leather heel counters hold the back. It is Goodyear welted on the Leo last, using the same pattern but built around support and comfort, with a 360º split-reverse welt and antique brass eyelets and speed hooks.
A leather outsole belongs on dry ground and on floors. Wear this one when you are dressing up rather than heading out into weather, and keep the trouser clean over the instep.
