Black Chromexcel Chelsea Boot
Description
A black Chelsea in Chromexcel — the slip-on pattern that has been a staple worldwide for nearly two centuries.
It dates back to the early 1800s as a riding boot, which is how it earned the name Paddock boot; only in the mid-1900s, when it was popular in England, did it become the Chelsea, after a district in southwest London. The pattern carries across categories: easily dressed up or down, and in some parts of the world a preferred style for work boots, given the closed pattern and the practicality of pulling it on. The leather is Chromexcel tanned by Horween in Chicago, incredibly resilient and full of character, whose hot-stuffed tannage leaves natural oils and waxes in the hide to create the pull-up effect and supple feel. It is built on the UK last, which fits half a size large with a fuller fit throughout. Goodyear-welt construction, double-sided gore, a 360º flat welt, full-grain kip leather lining, vegetable-tanned insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank, full-grain leather heel counters and a micro stud rubber outsole.
In black this is the most versatile boot in the range. Order it a half size down from your usual, and wear it with anything.
