Description
A black plain toe boot on a lug sole, made from a leather that asks almost nothing of you.
Waxed Commander from Charles F. Stead requires little-to-no maintenance and ages well on its own. The uppers, lining and insole are leather and that is the entire material list. The kicker is the Leo last used on a boot pattern, which is where the support and comfort come from. It is Goodyear welted with a 360º split-reverse welt, lined in full-grain kip leather, and finished with gunmetal eyelets and speed hooks rather than brass. Vegetable-tanned leather forms the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler sits over a steel shank, and full-grain leather heel counters hold the back. The outsole is lug rubber.
Gunmetal hardware keeps the boot in one register, which makes it easier to dress up than most lug-soled black boots.
