Bourbon Suede Unlined Chukka Boot
Description
Bourbon is the middle tone in this chukka's range: warm, mid-brown, and the easiest of the three to wear all year.
The boot is crafted from a single piece of supple suede — Janus Butt from Charles F. Stead — and left unlined. That is what makes it exceptionally lightweight and breathable, and it lets the leather mould to the foot into a fit that gets better rather than looser. The outsole is butyl leather, oil-dipped for flexibility, so the boot flexes with the foot instead of resisting it. Goodyear-welt construction on the Leo last, a 360º split-reverse welt, blind eyelets, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and outsole, cork filler over a steel shank.
A laid-back but refined boot is hard to get right, and this one manages it by leaving things out. With jeans or chinos it disappears into the outfit in the best way.
