The hide comes from Charles F. Stead as Waxed Kudu. It is full of character, soft to the touch and heavier in the hand than its softness suggests — a combination that suits a boot particularly well. Variation is expected here; this is the antithesis of a cookie-cutter article, so the pair you receive will not match the pair in the photograph. Construction is Goodyear welted on the Leo last with a 360º split-reverse welt, full-grain leather kip lining, antique brass eyelets and speed hooks, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank and full-grain leather heel counters. The outsole is lug rubber.
Burgundy this deep behaves like a neutral in most light and stops being one the moment the sun hits it. With a lug sole under it, the boot can go outside and still look like a decision rather than an accident.
