Husk Repello Suede Boot
Description
A suede boot with the hardware scaled up: larger eyelets and speed hooks, sized for leather laces rather than the usual thin ones.
The suede is Repello from Charles F. Stead. The details that separate this one from a plain lace-up are structural rather than decorative — an external heel counter cover and a backstay reinforce the back of the boot where it takes the most abuse, and the Leo last underneath is the comfortable one. Construction is Goodyear welted with a 360º flat welt, full-grain kip leather lining, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank, full-grain leather heel counters and antique brass eyelets and speed hooks. The outsole is a Vibram Christy.
That wedge sole changes how the whole boot reads: less workwear, more everyday, and noticeably softer underfoot than a welted rubber lug. Husk is a pale, warm tone that will darken where you handle it. Wear it with the trouser hem clean over the top.
