Jungle Vegetable-Tanned Kangaroo Boot
Description
A boot in kangaroo leather, which is the answer to a specific question: how do you get this much strength without this much weight?
Kangaroo hide is known for being lightweight while retaining incredible strength, and here it is vegetable tanned by Maryam Tannery. The natural properties of the hide combined with a vegetable tannage produce a durable leather that ages well rather than simply wearing out. Around it, the build is conventional and deliberate: Goodyear-welt construction on the Leo last, a 360º flat welt, full-grain leather kip lining, antique brass eyelets and speed hooks, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank, full-grain leather heel counters and a micro stud rubber outsole.
The point of this pair is what it does not do to your feet at the end of a long day. It is a boot you can wear the way most people wear a shoe, and the jungle tone keeps it informal enough to justify that. Wear it often; the leather rewards it.
