Tan Essex Plain Toe Boot

Tan Essex is a light, honest leather on the plainest boot pattern in the range — no cap, no decoration, nothing to distract from the colour.

The Essex comes from Horween, and it is a natural aniline article, which means creasing and colour variation are expected rather than avoided. Each pair develops differently because each hide is unique, and on a tone this light the differences show early. Full-grain kip leather lines the boot. It is Goodyear welted on the Leo last with a 360º flat welt, antique brass eyelets and speed hooks up the front, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank, and full-grain leather heel counters. The micro stud rubber outsole is medium-density and built to handle all seasons.

A tan boot asks for restraint above it. Keep the tones around it quiet and let the leather darken where you walk. In a year it will not look like the pair in this photograph, which is the point.
