Description
A perforated cap toe, a backstay that hugs the heel counter, and a lug sole underneath: this is the business-casual end of the range with a work boot's bottom.
The upper is Chromexcel tanned by Horween in Chicago, an incredibly resilient leather with unparalleled character; its hot-stuffed tannage leaves natural oils and waxes in the hide, which create the pull-up effect and the supple feel. Drawing on the pattern's military history, it is paired with a lug outsole for more robust traction. Construction is Goodyear welted on the Leo last with a 270º flat welt and heel rand, full-grain kip leather lining, polished brass eyelets and speed hooks, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank and full-grain leather heel counters.
The combination is deliberately mismatched and it works: a versatile pattern on a sole that can handle the walk there. Crimson keeps it from reading as formal.
