Saddle Tan Minerva Lug Sole Boot

Saddle tan on the plain-toe pattern with the smaller hardware — a lug sole underneath and a vegetable-tanned Italian leather on top.

The upper is Minerva from Badalassi Carlo. The pattern features smaller hardware, a single backstay and larger quarter panels, and it is built on the high-walled Floyd last with time-proven leather uppers, lining and insoles. Construction is Goodyear welted with a 360º split-reverse welt, full-grain kip leather lining, polished brass eyelets and speed hooks, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank and full-grain leather heel counters. Underneath it runs a lug rubber outsole.

This one offers the feel and support of a workboot, while the subtle details of the plain-toe pattern make it a viable option in the office or outdoors. Saddle tan will not stay where it started — a light vegetable-tanned leather rarely does — so buy it expecting the tone to deepen unevenly, which is the best argument for owning it.
