Tan Brooklyn Calf Plain Toe Boot
Description
Tan calf on the plain toe pattern — a clean article that still has colour and depth in it, which is a harder balance than it sounds.
Brooklyn Calf is tanned by Charles F. Stead. It is full-grain and clean, and the combination tannage is finished with a blend of waxes and oils that produces a pull-up effect: the leather lightens where it bends, and gains character rather than losing it. Expect prominent vamp breaks and variation of colour, and because this is a light-coloured vegetable-tanned article, some areas of the boot may sit in darker hues. Uppers, lining and insole are leather. It is Goodyear welted on the Leo last with a 360º flat welt, full-grain kip leather lining, antique brass eyelets and speed hooks, vegetable-tanned leather at the insole, welt and midsole, cork filler over a steel shank and full-grain leather heel counters, on a micro stud rubber outsole.
Tan is the tone that shows wear first and best. Keep whatever sits above it plain and let the vamp break where it wants to.
